A drop-in anchor is an internally threaded expansion anchor consisting of a metal sleeve and a tapered internal plug. Once inserted into a pre-drilled hole, a setting tool drives the plug down, expanding the sleeve base against the concrete. It is widely used for medium-to-heavy-duty suspension from concrete ceilings and walls, such as ductwork, pipe hanging, and cable trays.
